Alkali Tank Insulation: Material Compatibility and Safety
Melamine foam is porous and is not an impermeable alkali tank lining. Alkali storage tanks require a verified chemical-resistant containment barrier; any thermal or acoustic foam used nearby must be separately assessed for compatibility and safety.
- Superior Chemical Resistance: Chemical compatibility with specific alkaline solutions, including sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and ammonia, must be verified under actual service conditions.
- Excellent Physical Properties: Lightweight, durable, and flexible, melamine foam can be easily applied to various tank shapes and sizes.
- Thermal Insulation: Thermal performance must be evaluated in a design that prevents direct alkaline exposure and meets applicable fire and chemical-safety requirements.
- Safety and Environmental Assessment: Review grade-specific emissions, substance and fire documentation. Porous foam is not a chemical-resistant tank lining.
