Since melamine and formaldehyde are both weakly alkaline substances, the H+ and OH- produced during the reaction can react with CO2, H2O and other gases in the air to generate gaseous substances, which are isolated from the air by discharging out of the kettle, and the synthesized melamine-formaldehyde resin, which can be obtained by distillation.
The bonding and gluing properties of melamine-formaldehyde resins increase with the increase of melamine content in melamine-formaldehyde resins. However, the bonding and gluing properties of melamine formaldehyde resin decrease with increasing temperature, while its gluing properties increase with increasing temperature. When the temperature rises to a certain extent, the viscosity decreases to a certain value and then starts to rise again. Within a certain range, the viscosity of melamine formaldehyde resin decreases with the increase of melamine content. Compared with urea-formaldehyde resin, its heat resistance, water resistance and chemical resistance are better than that of urea-formaldehyde resin.
Melamine formaldehyde resin is mainly used in wood processing for plywood, joinery, plywood and so on, and can be used as the substrate of impregnated film paper veneer artificial board. In addition, it can also be used for all kinds of man-made boards decorated with impregnated paper and particle boards, medium density fiberboards, oriented strand boards decorated with impregnated film paper. In the field of building decoration, melamine formaldehyde resin has excellent water resistance and durability, and can be used in all kinds of indoor decorative materials and outdoor decorative materials.
